Its 1:40 at night and I found enough time to squeeze in the last post of this year.

Going 22
Will start with the utter disappointment of Liverpool loosing to Manchester United today. The match as I previously mentioned wasnt a goal delight with Tevez finding behind the net in first half. Okay I'll not be biased but Liverpool did play really well dominated the game but lacked some creativity upfront despite Torres lurking behind Manu's defence.

Going Down.. !!
For quite some time really, I've been telling myself to use the extra time I get after classes more efficiently.. But the whole day driving to chandigarh and 4 hrs class which are coming quite nicely, have been grueling somewhat. Not to forget my 4kms jog, Yes 4 ;-) with help from some really nice adidas joggers helped my flat foot to ease out a bit, adds to the bone tiredness I carry with myself coming back.
Well, the bad news of the week is that my home desktop is going to dad's factory but the good one which actually out-casts the bad is pretty blatant :-) . Yes .. There's a new kid coming in the house which will most likely be Dell. I've gone through HP and lenovo's desktops but I think I'll stick with the Dell Inspiron 530s series. Dell offering pretty good deals to really snatch onto as compared to others. Specially with the dedicated 3D card which in HP is shared which is the last thing I'll want in the new PC of this generation. Well the price am looking for is not much, so will stick to pretty decent config with 2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 1 Gb ram n 160 Gb HDD with slick 19" Lcd monitor n the best part of it, the new slim tower ! Definitely an eye catching thing.
Down below is the one with Inspirons .:
and down here is the cheaper one with Vostrons.
Astonishing really. But the pt. of debate is really not this bcuz am planning to buy the ATI radeon HD 2600 XT which costs 1500 more I guess and way better according to reviews.
Am going to place the order tomm, lets c what pans out. I've given a thought for the assembled ones as well but this time I really want a PC with some stunning looks at home along with MacBook. My last one ended being with white cabinet, black dvd drive, a white monitor and black keyboard. It was actually like living in a 1930's movies where everything seemed to be in 2 shades of color really with monochrome forms of visual arts. ( ehhh.. Did I mention my Silver mouse ;-) )
This week will definately be a hustling one with a Champions league MUST WIN match for Liverpool on tues late night and then the BIG one fellows.. I mean really BIG.. Next sunday Liverpool host the Red devils ( Manchester United ) which is a must watch for everybody. It is going to be a cracker jack with flurry of tackles flowing around and excitement all round. I really want liverpool to fuck Manu badly for the absolutely bull shit goal last time from OShea right at the end and am sure its not going to be goal feast so it'll really require someone to pull an absolute rabbit from the hat that day to come out smiling..
Ohh and ya.. The title is for the temp here in parwanoo, it is tormenting really now. Going down everyday. Very chilly ..!!
PS:
Apple releasing a 10.5.2 update for Leopard which is rumoured to be the biggest update from Apple ever for anything in their armory . Will be offering much more speed from the OS and a lot more. Stev Jobs really knows how to live upto the expectations triggered by the rumours that flow in before anything big..

Blimy ..!! Chimps more clever than humans..
After a bustling weekend with weddings and parties and SAP, a small hiatus sneaks in this week to get a new post in, creditable to my sir :-) College life is way past right now, but it was nice reliving the times with friends and those laughs.
The wedding was in Jalandhar, but our meeting pt. was Ludhiana. Well you wont really require some extra brains to think what we exactly did in Ludhiana. Food is all what it is famous for apart from Mercs and filthy rich people. And going to Ludhiana, I learnt one thing, Never own more than 2 cars ;-) Trust me.. My Stan friend owning almost 12 cars lined up in his drive way and for making space to play cricket, imagine how many cars we had shift. I was more interested in watching the Liv match than cricket.
Okay, here's something which might give you a shock. Researchers have shown that young chimps outperform adult humans in a memory test, a concentration-like game using numerals on a computer screen.
I really wonder what kind of a human they put on test with the chimp.

From Black Stripes to Dots.. OS X 10.5
I expected to post in before the weekend but was busy in my SAP course and material management which surprisingly am enjoying. All the purchase requisitions and vendor's purchase orders and all, enticing really to learn all this.
Ok, Jumping onto Leopard ( not literally ;-) ).
Well downloading wasnt the biggest headache and I certainly mean every bit of it. After the elephantine download of 6.85 Gb , something more was in store for my stupefaction. The dvd I sliced to 4.2 Gb to fit on one DVD from this method. After removing languages and printer drivers which was seizing amazing 2+ Gigs . Getting down the dvd to that size made things a bit shacky. While installing the first time , it gave me the shock of a lifetime with 8 min to go for the installation, it showed Installation Failed. I reread every bit of methods I could find for installing Leopard. The worst thing was that I didnt Install and archive. I cleaned the whole system and started installing.
But sadly this meant that I had to install Tiger again for burning Leopard , a fresh copy. And I figured out my mistake which I did while Burning and finally installed and got OS X 10.5 installed. I really liked the Welcome video on the first boot of Leopard.
Its been more than a week I've been using Leopard and more am using it, more am falling in Love with it. It is simply awesome honestly. It cudnt have been more user friendly than this in my opinion. It is one major step ahead of Tiger unlike Vista from windows which failed to offer any user friendliness despite of such eye candy stuff.
Leopard comes with 300 + new features ( well thats wat it says OFFICIALLY ) but if I was not able to see all the 300, I definitely have seen some new and very helpful ones.
- Well, THE first new thing which one cant really miss is the new Dock. Has a translucent bar holding the dock icons with a new reflecting feature.
- There is new feature in the dock with a new animated icon preview in an elegant Arc and Grip formations which really helps in opening applications.
- The search bar on top has got a totally new look which looks good to the eye and has easy access.
- For a download junkie like me who really want to leech out the torrents from the net, leopard offers a Sleep Display hot corner. Earlier it was not possible to switch off display without letting your Mac to take a nap.
- The souped-up Finder introduces a sidebar that allows you to rearrange items in the Places section
- iChat lets you and Leopard-using buddies share files and control each others' desktops, expanding the tool's potential professional use. And you can record iChat sessions as AAC audio or MPEG video files ready for an iPod, which is a great feature for podcasters.
- Mail eases out the work for gmail users to directly add their account without any POP3 settings to be filled and same goes with iChat.

Setting NETGEAR Wireless Router WGR614v7 for BSNL broadband
Seeing the terrible customer service of BSNL ( sadly the only broadband connection here in my town ) , I had placed an order for a wireless modem instead of the ADSL modem but after waiting and ehh.. some more waiting. I cancelled my request and decided to buy a 3rd party wireless router. For router suggestions, the reviews I have for Netgear wireless router are weighing a bit more than the Dlink ones in the positive side. Ya I got the Netgear one ( which actually matches to the my MacBook ).
Hardly costs over 1900 which is pretty affordable.
- Wireless Router
- ADSL modem
- 2 Cat 5 Lan cables
- Internet Connec ( How dumb )
All the wiring part is done. Now sit back on your chair but dont relax ;-) ! Open the computer connected to the wireless router and start Internet Explorer or Safari ( for Mac users ). It'll most probably open the Netgear page i.e. http://routerlogin.com . Login with the username admin and password : password.
Now on this screen, you have add your wireless cards MAC address. Press ADD here and write your device name n below the MAC addres. In Macintosh, you just go in SYSTEMS and then NETWORK and double click AIRPORT. It'll take you to the screen below.
The Airport ID in the pic is your Wireless Card's MAC address. For getting your MAC address on windows. You need do an extra bit by going into command promt and typing : ipconfig\all
This will show you the MAC addresses of your ethernet port as well as the wireless one. Jot it down somewhere and then Add in the Access control of your Wireless Router settings.
Access control method is a bit icky in the starting but very comfortable to use it in future getting you out of writing password n all time ad time again and its more safer than WAP key method to prevent your neighbors eavesdropping on ur net.
Ok, you are good to go people. On the BASIC SETTINGS page, you can change your IDLE TIME OUT option for setting your router to automatically DC from net after that time you specified as I've specified 5 below.
APPLY and find out the farthest possible point from your Router to get your Net working and let me no :-)
And there's TIGER update as well 10.4.11 which is the last in the series. It comes with the new Safari v3.0 which probably solve some of the irksome problems you are having. Like on the blogspot only when you were on the post creation screen, earlier you wont get to see the font toolbar thats y I had to use FireFox for blogs. But using Safari now as well, things dont tend to slide smoothly which is very surprising. You'll find some buttons will work after hitting 3-4 times. Not joking.
Lets c my Leopard's on its way. 4.76 Gb downloaded from 6.85 Gb so hopefully the next post will be from the new Cat in town.
Enjoy your weekend, EPL's back..

i-NGLAND
Its been months really since I fleshed out my thoughts letting my fingers swing over the Mac to write something whats actually going in my iLife apart from the iPhone banter and Euro Championship. My Java's denouement was not what I imagined. The advanced was way more than my capability really. Servlets and JSP was fine but EJB and Beans was some heavy duty stuff honestly.
Cutting short this, Went to Vaishno Devi last weekend and had a rhapsodizing experience on the Chopper one way. Though it was hardly 10 min ride but still the whole thing was amazing. Specially I can still recall my family's expression when we came to know about the pilot. It was a lady. Imagine, till roads its fine really. In air, Give me a break people. Damn I was so afraid of even having a thought of having a women pilot in a skimpy helicopter. But I'm still breathing and in my senses to write this senseless post. :-)
Some of you will be really amazed that I finally completed my Star Wars series. Saw the part V and part VI. It was worht watching every minute I tell you. Amazing story line BUT only if you watch all the parts carefully and read on wikipedia about some planets names which am pretty hopefull will blow your fuse in the movie, bcuz most of the times they just zoom to their Light speed and off to some diff planets and to meet diff people. Waiting for Beowulf and Hitman. Hitman obv rings a bell to some of the gamers. Am really excited to see, how they hav put the whole essence of the game onto the White Screen. I just played Hitman , the new one this year on Xbox and I tell you. The game needs LOT of time and patience guys but a very well thought story line I must say.
And still riding on iPhone saga, T-Mobile is going to charge the equivalent of $1,478 for an unlocked iPhone in Germany. The carrier will continue to challenge the court's decision, but it seems that locking phones to a specific carrier is against German law. It'll be interesting to see how much value people place for an unlocked iPhone.
Ok, lets just say my prophecy of jinxed England was right. Sad it is for England supporters like me to watch England failing to qualify in the last 16 of Euro 2008 despite of a big big favor from Israel. It was very disheartening to see Gerrard and his team fall to pieces. I really wished I had not spoiled my beloved sleep to wake up at 1:45 to witness the most horrific score line which was way beyond my imagination. On 18 min, Eng were 0-2 down to Croatia but somehow things looked better in the Second half with The Beck Man coming as a sub and did what he does best. Made a sweet cross for Crouchy to chest it and get the ball behind the net for the equaliser. Things looked better, way better from the first half but then, as I have always believed, Gerrard and Lampard should not play together, only if they have a Defensive Midfielder behind, Hargreaves most likely. N thats wat led there heroic comeback to rags bcuz of free midfield and Croatia came up a superb 30 yard banger to get their noses in front. Not to forget, Scot Carson's first cap for England. I bet this was his last ! Pathetic performance from him as well.
In all, I'll go with Spain as the favorites in Euro 08, but you never know. Lords of the Dog town can come from anywhere really. !
And for the news of the week. Stev Mclaren has been SACKED by FA after Englands loss to Croatia and rumours flowing that Jose murinho might be in the contention for the Job .

Safari Issues.. !!
Lately Safari and Opera users are not able to view there Scraps on orkut. I too was having this problem since long but was a abit oblivious abt it. But its been nearly 3 weeks so really got on my top floor. Had to use Firefox for orkut. There hav been lot of discussion about it on the net due to these issues.
We'll just hav to wait for any updates or something.
And good news for England. Israel did them a great favour by beating Russia ystd 2-1 which makes way for England to claim a place ( surely in a tottery way ) in the last 16 of EURO 2008. Poor isnt it. So many stars and still had to bank on Israeli's. Lets hope they dont disspoint by loosing to Croatia on Thur. :-)

Updated Unlocking FW 1.1.1
Sorry for being too late for any updates here. I was busy and to top that my rusty Broadband not working from the past 2 weeks which is biggest blow.
But here's a new tip for FW 1.1.1 iPhones. All those who have unlocked the iPhones with Tiff exploit method like the way shown in my previous post, For getting your Youtube working, you dont need to copy any files using WinSCP or ne other software now. There's a link in the INSTALLER of YOUTUBE. Just press it and let it roll.
You'll have your Youtube working smoothly.
I'll come up with the 1.1.2 unlocking soon.

Unlocking iPhone FW 1.1.1
Ok, after going through hell lot of forums and sites and discussing with unknown people on net, the D day actually arrived of unlocking the iPhone ( Remember my friend's getting one ) . First obv the firmware (FW) mystery was eating us from long that whether we'll get 1.0.2 or the latest 1.1.1 . 1.0.2 was easily jailbreaked and the process was pretty easy. Then apple somewhat battling with the whole army of hackers came on the battlefield with a new 1.1.1 which was supposedly jailbreak proof. But then really, amazing brains found a detour to mod the iPhone and install 3rd party applications.
I'm going to write step by step in easiest possible way to unlock and activate 1.1.1 which worked flawlessly for me. Pls read again and again and again. Most of the questions will be answered.
Here are the things required for unlocking your iPhone
- iPhone (duh ) But remember this guide is for only freshly opened FW 1.1.1
- Wifi access point for net
- Fast internet
- And I recommend, you should know how to share your net thru wifi without any access point i.e. without a router. Just a computer with wifi.
- You dont need a Mac or a pc untill unless you want youtube to work. For that, you will be needing WinSCP and SSH.
- There are some things you should know before you perform anything on this site. There is obviously some risk involved here, but everyone I know of has been able to restore their iPhone by using iTunes. I've heard no report of anyone damaging their iPhone by modding it when using the correct program(s) properly.
- You risk voiding your warranty.
- This site is not for those uncomfortable around computers. If you aren't sure about something on here, then I recommend stopping what you are doing and connecting your iPhone to iTunes, and signing a contract with AT&T.
- Any modifications you perform on your iPhone, including bypassing activation and unlocking, could be reset if you should install a firmware update provided by Apple. It's a simple matter of redoing everything you previously did to get your iPhone back the way you had it once you update provided the new firmware has been deemed safe.
- Read the instructions in their entirety. If you can't follow directions, you may damage your iPhone requiring a replacement from Apple.
- I am not responsible for your results if they are less than what you expected. You assume all risks. I recommend seeking help in iPhone hacking forums or in the various IRC channels. Check my links page to find them.
- If you have not activated your iPhone via AT&T, then you will lack the ability to use visual voicemail.
Step 1
OK, first take out your brand new iPhone from the box and put your sim in ur iPhone as shown below :
Switch it on by pressing the sleep button on top.
If you not sure of your FW, switch on the phone and on the activation screen, slide the slide for emergency calls and dial the following no. *3001#12345#*
If your iPhone has FW 1.1.1 , the firmware version shown 0.4.01.13_G like shown in the above pic.
Phones with FW 1.0.2 will hav 3.14.08_G.
Step 2 :- Tiff Exploit
(Note, it has been news that phones within a week been bought are Tiff exploit resistant )
Press HOME button and you'll back to the Activation Screen .
Again Slide for emergency calls and Dial *#307#
On this screen, Press the CONTACTS button on the left of the highlighted Keypad in the bottom panel. On this screen , on the Top Right, press ( + ) button and add a new contact. Give any name and then press ADD NEW URL.
Ok here is where the fun part kicks off. Enter for the url : prefs://1F and then press SAVE on the Top Right. It'll take you back and Press SAVE again.
After coming to the screen shown below, Press the url homepage highlighted in blue and this will take you to the settings screen.
Then, goto GENERAL button and then navigate to AUTOLOCK and set it to NEVER !! And then on the GENERAL screen, Press Wi-Fi and select your wifi network ( working with internet). If you dont have a router, you can still do it with changing the from available network to Peer to Peer connection in advances menu of Wi-Fi properties.
Join this network and then Press HOME.
Step 3
Ok, If you really were able to do this and reached till here, Press the HOME button and dial 0 , Phone will ring again answer and then HOLD and then DECLINE. Then make a contact with any name and again add a url for this new contact as well and give the link : http://jailbreakme.com.
And then press SAVE and do the same process of going back and then Press the url button.
Ok, once you land up on jailbreakme.com , scroll down and install AppSnapp.
After installing AppSnapp , safari will crash in few seconds. IMPORTANT : If Safari doesn't crash after 1 minute, then press the Home button. Wait until the iPhone becomes responsvie, then go into the emergency keypad again and enter 0 and press Call. Go back to the contacts screen and press Z and press the home page button again.
So finally when you manage to crash your Safari, it will send you back to the activation iPhone screen. Wait for arnd 30 seconds and the iPhone will warble and the shiny slider will freeze and start again. The iPhone will then ring , so slide the slide to answer.
After sliding to answer the ringing iPhone, the phone will freeze. You dont need to worry about nething here. Just press the SLEEP button on top till the power off slider appears and turn in back ON .
Doing all this will bring you on ur spring board. Wallla. .!!
The next step is to use the Installer program to install Community Sources, BSD Subsystem and add anySIM's webhoster to the list of trusted sources so that you can install that program as well.
On the Springboard, launch INSTALLER and it'll jump to update so just be kind and let it folks.
Ok restart the phone and slide to unlock. And again launch INSTALLER.. Now on the bottom pane, press INSTALL and this screen will pop up shown below. Navigate to sources
With the installer only you'll be able to install most of the applications on the installer. Press COMMUNITY SOURCES and after getting some useless info about the software, just dont waste time reading guys, go and Press INSTALL on top right.
Then confirm installation and press OK. ( Press OK st. away if really blindly agree to the terms really. )
Done with this, you should be back on the List of Folders and from here navigate to SYSTEM install BSD Subsystem. It'll take time to install so have patience.
Step 4
Ok finally , we have come down the line so far. After installing BSD Subsystem, Press SOURCES button on the bottom pane.
And now Press EDIT on the TOP Right.
And now Press ADD on top left. After pressing add
enter : http://i.unlock.no
Installer will refresh its sources and then all you have to do is DONE.
Then Press REFRESH and now you'll see the folder Unlocking tools is associated with the i.unlock.no website.
Now, press the INSTALL button on the Bottom pane and scroll down to the Unlocking tools and press it. And without looking newhere bcuz when u here , u just want to start using ur sim so just select AnySim.
And Now, press HOME and then goto Settings > General > AutoLock > NEVER ( if u didnt do it before. )
Now Press INSTALL , on the Top Right. And before just rushing your trembling fingers on the Red base INSTALL button, JUST PRESS ONCE !!
Press the Home button to relaunch the SpringBoard. You need to do this after every application you install. You should now see the anySIM application icon.
Launch AnySim and slide to unlock. AND YES AGAIN.. CLICK INSTALL ONLY ONCE.. !!
And wait for sometime. When you see this on your screen :
You are good to go. . !!
To remove this, goto Package and remove AnySim and Enjoy.. !!
N here's the proof of my Hacked version.. : -
