New Year Resolution ??

Its 1:40 at night and I found enough time to squeeze in the last post of this year.

Tomorrow well, have some plans with friends. Plans as such are not really big if you say so, eat, movie and might be going to a club IF we can contrive any passes or barge into any backdoor ( we cudnt arrange in time ). But thats how we roll ..!! No denying the fact that its always the same itinerary when we go out but the thing is honestly that I have a nice time following the same timetable for our entertainment with full surge.

Okay, same time tomm, 8 will replace 7 in the end of 200* . New year is something which is very hypothetically celebrated day, if you didnt know the date it obv would be just another day really. But with the calender changing dates every 24 hrs, somewhere in our minds its really tantalizing to have a thought of new year. Honestly I don't know why but I'm excited for nothing really. Just that I want the year ahead should be good for me and bring some stability in my life and bring the EPL trophy back to Anfield ( though it seems to be a uphill task ) .

Well, many of us keep new year resolutions and from that many , many just forget after couple of days. it actually wont take a lot to  guess that am not the part of the above mentioned 'MANY'. But this time I actually want to do something good in life this year. I certainly would keep my anger restrained somewhat ( some say ) , certainly will loose ( more ) wt. and definitely improve my football skills which have gone down .. sigh. I actually got the air pumped in my football ystd had a nice time playing in the garden but was really disappointed with my technique which was the only thing I possessed in my game. I was never a fancy stepover dribbler , but I'll improve on that as well.

And to ruin my holiday season, the shipment date of the order my brother placed on amazon.com for ATI 3850 graphic card has been postponed till march. Damn..!! Very cheap ass amazon people. At the time of ordering , it was in stock.

Few words really to sum the whole year gone by will be, ehh wasnt a very dynamic year for me if you ask me, but few things definitely get pinned on my board and remain there as sweet memory.

And To those who came by and never wrote this blog's address on their browsers, to those who sometime pay a visit or two in a month, to those who I have to give address of my blog every time I talk to them, to the very few who actually take the pains to reach to the last line of the posts and to those who don't even know this web page ever existed, a Very Happy New year..!!

Be good and a have great year ahead.. !!

Merry Christmas ‡ Happy Boxing day..

Merry christmas to all.. !!

It actually takes me back to the time when I started this post last year, on christmas. Well things have changed really from that time. My sis got married, passed out of college, from Patiala to Delhi and then back to Parwanoo and ehh, new premiership season and TORRES ( who made a remarkable change in Liverpool ).. :-)

Not to forget the new Dell Inspiron which just arrived yesterday and boy I tell you, it was worth waiting for. Simply stunning looks and well ehh, I really am disappointed with the likes of vista's pathetic showy pop ups and screen shaders lurking everywhere whenever you want to change any system settings. Damn..!! It asks you before going into the Device Manager also.. Vista has been a big downfall if you ask me. It's hardly stable and you'll find yourself still stuck with those age old mythological chants of ( NOT RESPONDING ) on top of the bar after you have pressed the End Task button for like 10 times in 2 seconds. To be honest really, I havn't found any appreciable step up in speed coming from a Intel P4 HT with 256 Ram to Intel Core 2 Duo with 1 GB Ram. I was reading on Zdnet Tech mails ( which I sometime find time to read in my inbox. ) that vista is facing a strong competition not from  Mac's , not Linux but XP really. I no ! Its hard to digest.. But am sure you'll agree with those stats when you actually bang your head on vista.

For my vista, am planning to install XP on different partition, hell with vista really. And about Vista's competition to Tiger, ya I no Tiger.( It doesnt stand a chance in front of Leopard so no point beating the bush really.) It doesnt even stand close to it despite of the some innovative smooth designs and totally new interface.

But am still happy with the new desktop and the new 3D card I'm buying. ATI Radeon HD 3850 which is supposedly the best bang-for-buck in the market. Its for 14 k's here but am obv not mad to spend that much for a 3D card, but I'm getting it from NY. I really have no idea when I'll get my hands on it and resuscitate my FPS talent on Crysis and Call of Duty. Dying to play these games really. Its really been long since I played some good kick ass game after Halo. That was like 6 years back.

I've been downloading Heroes lately from the past week and spent all weekend watching it. It was just amazing I tell you. The imagination, the characters, their powers and well scripted story line makes it worth watching. It had the same catchy plot which keeps you hooked onto the screen and makes you play episodes back to back ( Just like Prison Break season 1 ).  Ohh and did I mention ?  Prison Break season 3 has gone 360 degrees really( In the negative sense ). The third season is as vague and as pathetic as ever. First they killed off Sarah which was the biggest sting in the tale. Secondly things just keep popping up frankly. For gods sake people.. Its just a Prison.. !! You even get microwaves and binoculars in Sona. And weird doors keep popping up in every episode which makes you wonder , why the hell we are wasting time.
Okays, coming back to Heroes. Well again the first season is very promising and characters should keep you begging for more. Specially Ali Larter. Man.. Where was she all this time.. ? Havnt seen newhere before..

Coming to football, being a 2 gamer this week with teams playing tomm on Boxing day might bring some shine on my raiders. My team hanging on 2nd and still the fight is getting tougher. Its now a 5 horse race  which is most likely going to give the result right on the last day. !! Boy, never had so much fun in Fantasy football before.

CAPTCHA..

CAPTCHA.. ever heard ??

If not heard definitely seen every where.. These are image code verifications. CAPTCHA is a contrived acronym for Completely Automated Public Turing Test to tell whether its a person or a computer because CAPTCHA are one of the very few things which are next to impossible for computers even and a cake walk really for us.

This should ring a bell..

Captcha are used to prevent automated softwares from performing actions to stop spammers. Many of us hav seen them on orkut , rapidshare and many more places. But but.. Mostly like orkut uses 4 letter words or 5 letter words. Which sum upto 12338343 combinations.
I was actually scrapping one of my friends on orkut with a link , and it gave me this really funny image verification code which took me quite sometime to register in my brains while scoffing at it . Have a look and you'll understand ..

Let the pictures tell you everything ! [ Eyes open boy, Not ears.. ;-) ]

Going 22

Will start with the utter disappointment of Liverpool loosing to Manchester United today. The match as I previously mentioned wasnt a goal delight with Tevez finding behind the net in first half. Okay I'll not be biased but Liverpool did play really well dominated the game but lacked some creativity upfront despite Torres lurking behind Manu's defence.

N ya, the calenders hav come round and taking me to another benchmark of my life. Yes, this is the birthday week but not just for me , its benchmark week for this Blog as well. I started this blog exactly one year back on 25th and Its been nice ride all the way through.

I started this blog just for fun honestly, but as the time went by and I added more and more posts on My Part(), I started enjoying the idea of posting my thoughts eventually despite of the no. of readers actually coming back to read it. I definitely had no intentions to come this far but now its actually one thing in my life which I love do and will continue.

Coming to my B'day, there are no plans as such for my day honestly . I'll celebrate the day with parents and cut the cake, nothing more. Well cake is the most awaited thing for me on my bday . Going 22 is really a scary thought conjuring of what lys ahead of life. Its not the usual bday feeling what we used to have in our teens really.

Neways, will look forward to have a nice time on bday despite of ESPN not airing Liv vs Chelsea on wed.

Going Down.. !!

For quite some time really, I've been telling myself to use the extra time I get after classes more efficiently.. But the whole day driving to chandigarh and 4 hrs class which are coming quite nicely, have been grueling somewhat. Not to forget my 4kms jog, Yes 4 ;-) with help from some really nice adidas joggers helped my flat foot to ease out a bit, adds to the bone tiredness I carry with myself coming back.

Well, the bad news of the week is that my home desktop is going to dad's factory but the good one which actually out-casts the bad is pretty blatant :-) . Yes .. There's a new kid coming in the house which will most likely be Dell. I've gone through HP and lenovo's desktops but I think I'll stick with the Dell Inspiron 530s series. Dell offering pretty good deals to really snatch onto as compared to others. Specially with the dedicated 3D card which in HP is shared which is the last thing I'll want in the new PC of this generation. Well the price am looking for is not much, so will stick to pretty decent config with 2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 1 Gb ram n 160 Gb HDD with slick 19" Lcd monitor n the best part of it, the new slim tower ! Definitely an eye catching thing.

Sexy.. isnt it ??

The pt. of qualms is the graphic card really. The ones Dell offering arnt particularly worth buying if I free some money for it. But but.. There's a BIG BIG mistake in Dell's shopping cart. There are 2 type of desktops they offer, for home and Office. The Inspirons ( for home ) are silver and Vostrons ( Business ) are slick Black. The whole customization process is cool but there's a I guess a flaw bcuz the ATI radion HD 2400 XT they are offering in Inspirons are for 5769/- and the exact same card from Vostron with same config is for 3605/-.
Down below is the one with Inspirons .:

and down here is the cheaper one with Vostrons.

Astonishing really. But the pt. of debate is really not this bcuz am planning to buy the ATI radeon HD 2600 XT which costs 1500 more I guess and way better according to reviews.

Am going to place the order tomm, lets c what pans out. I've given a thought for the assembled ones as well but this time I really want a PC with some stunning looks at home along with MacBook. My last one ended being with white cabinet, black dvd drive, a white monitor and black keyboard. It was actually like living in a 1930's movies where everything seemed to be in 2 shades of color really with monochrome forms of visual arts. ( ehhh.. Did I mention my Silver mouse ;-) )

This week will definately be a hustling one with a Champions league MUST WIN match for Liverpool on tues late night and then the BIG one fellows.. I mean really BIG.. Next sunday Liverpool host the Red devils ( Manchester United ) which is a must watch for everybody. It is going to be a cracker jack with flurry of tackles flowing around and excitement all round. I really want liverpool to fuck Manu badly for the absolutely bull shit goal last time from OShea right at the end and am sure its not going to be goal feast so it'll really require someone to pull an absolute rabbit from the hat that day to come out smiling..

Ohh and ya.. The title is for the temp here in parwanoo, it is tormenting really now. Going down everyday. Very chilly ..!!

PS:
Apple releasing a 10.5.2 update for Leopard which is rumoured to be the biggest update from Apple ever for anything in their armory . Will be offering much more speed from the OS and a lot more. Stev Jobs really knows how to live upto the expectations triggered by the rumours that flow in before anything big..

Blimy ..!! Chimps more clever than humans..

After a bustling weekend with weddings and parties and SAP, a small hiatus sneaks in this week to get a new post in, creditable to my sir :-) College life is way past right now, but it was nice reliving the times with friends and those laughs.

The wedding was in Jalandhar, but our meeting pt. was Ludhiana. Well you wont really require some extra brains to think what we exactly did in Ludhiana. Food is all what it is famous for apart from Mercs and filthy rich people. And going to Ludhiana, I learnt one thing, Never own more than 2 cars ;-) Trust me.. My Stan friend owning almost 12 cars lined up in his drive way and for making space to play cricket, imagine how many cars we had shift. I was more interested in watching the Liv match than cricket.

Okay, here's something which might give you a shock. Researchers have shown that young chimps outperform adult humans in a memory test, a concentration-like game using numerals on a computer screen.
I really wonder what kind of a human they put on test with the chimp.

From Black Stripes to Dots.. OS X 10.5

I expected to post in before the weekend but was busy in my SAP course and material management which surprisingly am enjoying. All the purchase requisitions and vendor's purchase orders and all, enticing really to learn all this.

Ok, Jumping onto Leopard ( not literally ;-) ).
Well downloading wasnt the biggest headache and I certainly mean every bit of it. After the elephantine download of 6.85 Gb , something more was in store for my stupefaction. The dvd I sliced to 4.2 Gb to fit on one DVD from this method. After removing languages and printer drivers which was seizing amazing 2+ Gigs . Getting down the dvd to that size made things a bit shacky. While installing the first time , it gave me the shock of a lifetime with 8 min to go for the installation, it showed Installation Failed. I reread every bit of methods I could find for installing Leopard. The worst thing was that I didnt Install and archive. I cleaned the whole system and started installing.
But sadly this meant that I had to install Tiger again for burning Leopard , a fresh copy. And I figured out my mistake which I did while Burning and finally installed and got OS X 10.5 installed. I really liked the Welcome video on the first boot of Leopard.

Its been more than a week I've been using Leopard and more am using it, more am falling in Love with it. It is simply awesome honestly. It cudnt have been more user friendly than this in my opinion. It is one major step ahead of Tiger unlike Vista from windows which failed to offer any user friendliness despite of such eye candy stuff.

Leopard comes with 300 + new features ( well thats wat it says OFFICIALLY ) but if I was not able to see all the 300, I definitely have seen some new and very helpful ones.

  • Well, THE first new thing which one cant really miss is the new Dock. Has a translucent bar holding the dock icons with a new reflecting feature.
  • There is new feature in the dock with a new animated icon preview in an elegant Arc and Grip formations which really helps in opening applications.
  • The search bar on top has got a totally new look which looks good to the eye and has easy access.
  • For a download junkie like me who really want to leech out the torrents from the net, leopard offers a Sleep Display hot corner. Earlier it was not possible to switch off display without letting your Mac to take a nap.
  • The souped-up Finder introduces a sidebar that allows you to rearrange items in the Places section
  • iChat lets you and Leopard-using buddies share files and control each others' desktops, expanding the tool's potential professional use. And you can record iChat sessions as AAC audio or MPEG video files ready for an iPod, which is a great feature for podcasters.
  • Mail eases out the work for gmail users to directly add their account without any POP3 settings to be filled and same goes with iChat.
And the list goes on but not my post :-) Premiership's starting in 15 min. Enjoy your weekend people , have a blast..
