Life in Metro

The Heading's a Decoy ( N no its not about the movie either). All one contemplates by the heading is fast life and fast ppl running from here n there for work and I too get the same feeling . But things can certainly go antithetical ways sometime. I'm Arjun and this is my story ( Dont scratch ur brains, these r the lines which PZ says in the starting of the film "Kal Ho Na Ho" )

Ehh, the story starts from where a story ended, yes my collg. Things aint particularly going in a nice way i can say. Few days back, we were supposed to get our provisional degree from collg. It was the day before i was just leaving for Delhi i.e on 28th. Was really looking forward to meet all the collg pals though it had just been over 3 weeks but the elation was many times higher.Got to know my result which was fairly wat I expected but everything overshadowed by the thoughts of becoming an Engineer. It was my turn in the queue to get my provisional when the accountant said that my degree is not yet printed bcuz according to him I had Backlog or re if u call so. N as the words came out of his mouth, the world just started fading away. I was like wat the hell, i failed in my exam !! No I passed thankfully, n to my bad luck, the "B" grade was misread by "E" I guess. Nehow, I came home happily.

But ya coming to the heading, it was the next day i was sitting in Shatabdi at 6 in the morning for delhi with my mom on station a bit senti about me leaving for Delhi. Reached bua's house at 11:15 in humid heat. N finally got my Mac Book which wasnt the most momentous event of that day, the best was yet to come. Sooner than i expected !! ;)
The java course was to start at 5:30, so in relaxed fashion started from Bua's house early cuz had to take a mobile connecion n when i reached the centre, the greatest shock i had was that my course was delayed a week or so. My eyes just wanted to pop out of the sockets n was like wat ? i travelled all 320 Kms to listen to this.. But managed to get heavy pile of books while coming back. So stayed back on the weekend n came back on monday itself. And So much for all the inspiration n zeal i took off from home ;). All came back with just a laptop in my hand back to my parwanoo..

A very nice n impressive thing i noticed on the New Delhi railway station that they have got the whole station wifi which is really very cool that things r getting better though at the slower pace, but ehh i cudnt manage to get my net working there. They have specified the way to configure ur wireless settings n given the gateway IP, but didnt work , dont no. If nebody happens to stumble on a dormant blog like this n managed themselves to this line, do check if u with a laptop how it works n its speed n all n let me no.

Coming back home wasnt particularly a good idea either. BSNL's office in Chandigarh caught fire on last saturday, so all the telephone lines of chd n all the broadband connections hav been precluded. Duh !! Dad got his GPRS working on his phone n bloody hell, coming from 100 kbps downloading to 1 Kbps really sucks. Trust me on this ! Didnt really had the privilege to work on net on my MacBook.

Well coming to Mac Book, it is simply awesome. The looks simply stun u, the processing speed is just amazin. It takes 24 seconds to start the whole thing. Its clock speed is 2.16 Ghz Intel core 2 duo with 1 Gb of 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM [ DDR : Double Data Rate ; SD : Synchronous Dynamic ]. Unfortunately what seems to be the only negative thing for me is that it comes with two 512 Mb rams which uses both the ram slots in it. Wanted to get the ram to 2 Gb but hav now procrastinated the plan for the memory increase but nonetheless 1 Gb is doin a great job right now for me. The only difference from my previous Hackintosh on desktop was the wireless capability though it has a wireless card. Did all in power to n searched every damn mac forums for the DWL G510 wireless network card drivers but all the effort went to vane. Am not exactly regret the time i wasted to get my wireless card work cuz i learnt a lot about MAC in my hunt. N amazingly MacBook comes with a firewire port which has 400 Mb/sec capability but :( hardly things come with firewire connectivity. I remember the first generation Ipods came with firewire port. ( My cousin Karan had 1st gen ipod long back when ppl just knew about apple with there semi colored translucent monitors) . Well another disappointment which comes with MacBook is it comes with only 64 MB VRAM which is also shared. So hardly there are ne chances of getting high end games to run on this laptop. But overall, i'll rate 4.5 out of 5 to MacBook with my experience till now and keeping in all the prospects from price to configuration. N i just about forgot the best part of this baby, it has around 3 1/2 hours of battery backup which is simply awesome.
Well here's a small video to give show a brief preview of Mac n its awesome processing power with the "Expose" thing which makes things pretty easier using mac.

Windows Vista as you see have tried their wits out to construct a beautiful interface to challenge Mac's environment. But definitely Mac is more than just looks. Its a much more intelligent and a hell lot easier to use compared to windows. So for those people who just buy mac for the looks and the jaw dropping interface, be real n stick to windows until n unless one has prior experience of mac with a hacked macintosh or nething.

Another thing which i learnt from my genius brother Karan ( Not the one who came in the wedding ;) ) , the main thing which windows provide is their capability to run primeval softwares n games to run in the future versions of Windows, so they have to start from scratch with all programming n crap. Like i played a game called Full Throttle ( probably the best game i've ever played, 2D) which came in 1995, n the game is still playable on Xp n even Vista where as Apple people do not take so much pains in starting from the initial things. Softwares of OS X 10.2 ( Panther ) do not work on this MAC OS X 10.4 . Despite of the some detrimental points, Mac definitely stands out but i truly accept Windows is no less and Microsoft quite capable better things in future.

It was a iWeek as well with launch of the most talked about gadgets from the past 6 months. Apple released iPhone this saturday n surely Apple people have a niche of getting stunning looks n innovative features in there products. Well we do not have much luck of having a look at it at present as Steve Jobs has stated iPhone will come in Asia in 2008 OFFICIALLY. Ya mind the word. ;) . People in Germany i've heard are likely to hack the phone n bring it in the international market. HATS OFF TO THESE PEOPLE !! The reviews of iPhone are pretty much ok. Want a reliable source for the review then will post it.

N the happiest thing which has happened so far this week is Liverpool has signed the Spain's Ace Fernanodo Torres for 26 million pounds. :) Liverpool's gonna kick MANUTD's ASS.. !!

N this post really getting stretched but cant resist to pen a few more lines. Am just sick n bored of sitting in shatabdi 7th time in just a month. Just now read a very riveting article which deserved my effort to open my mac n add a few more lines to this gigantic post.
Shakespeare said, " Sleep that knits up the ravelled sleave of care" . But is it really true ? Bcuz there is study to challenge it. ! Its a study that we needn't lose any sleep over bcuz if e did, we are not likely to catch up on our forty winks later. so its better to get good sleep rather to pile it up n leave for later cuz that later wont come.
So sleep tight with all ur might. ;)

The 950GMA is capable of sharing upto 224MB of RAM as VRAM and is limited to 64 only on Mac OS. If you install Vista, you'll be able to use Aero and other effects because it gets bumped to 224MB.
